In response to our recent Declaration of Impasse, the United Teachers of Northport has been notified by PERB, the Public Employment Relations Board, that Jay Siegel has been appointed as our mediator.
The UTN and District are working with our respective legal representatives to establish the date of our first mediation session. It is anticipated that our first meeting will occur in January, although no firm date has yet been set.
As has been previously stated, a mediator is generally utilized for three to five sessions. If an agreement is not reached within a few sessions, the parties may decide to proceed to fact finding. Additional information will be disseminated, as it becomes available.
