Contract NEGOTIATIONS
Update # 1

Your UTN Negotiations Team has been meeting weekly since early December to finalize proposals and prepare for the upcoming negotiation. It was anticipated that the exchange of proposals would occur on February 1st in accordance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement which states, “The initial proposals will be exchanged by February 1 of the year in which the contract expires and shall be considered privileged communications as mutually agreed to by both parties.”
Unfortunately, and much to the disappointment of the UTN Team, the District’s Team is not prepared to move forward with the proposal exchange at the current time. The District has requested an extension of that deadline.
The UTN Team stands ready to begin the formal negotiations process with the exchange of proposals. A side agreement is currently being drafted by NYSUT Labor Relations Specialist, Sean Callahan and the School District’s Attorney, John Gross, whereby the District requests the extension, acknowledges this extension as non-precedent setting and sets the date for the exchange of proposals for Monday, February 22, 2010.
