Antoinette Blanck: Information about Leslie

Dear Colleagues,

As you have already heard, the world lost a phenomenal educator, dedicated friend and extraordinary person with the passing of Leslie Spanko.  Leslie had been an integral member of the Northport School Community for over 34 years when she suddenly, and unexpectedly, passed away yesterday.  Leslie has served as a role model for her colleagues and students alike as a concerned and compassionate educator and beautiful human being.  She will be truly missed by all those who have had the pleasure of knowing her.

At this time, arrangements are still pending.  Once information becomes available, it will be shared with you.

The students at ENMS have taken it upon themselves to wear RED on Monday, December 16th in Leslie’s honor.  I ask that you each join her students, and other members of the ENMS Family, by wearing red.

Additionally, the following has been posted on Facebook:

On Friday, the East Northport Middle School family lost a dear friend, colleague and teacher. This morning,Saturday, we woke up to see that Tim Green, an author who visited our school last week, had included her name in a contest to become a character in his next young adult novel. This is a chance to have Leslie’s name memorialized forever.

Please go to Tim Green’s page to find the post “Leslie Spanko” and click like to register a vote for her.

I’m sure that you will join me in keeping Leslie’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

Yours truly,

Antoinette
