Your UTN Negotiations Team continues to prepare for the upcoming negotiations process. UTN President, Antoinette Blanck, has been engaged in ongoing, informal discussions with the Superintendent for many months. Many meetings of the Negotiations Team have occurred since late spring. Most recently, the team convened on Tuesday, November 19th to discuss proposals. Additionally, new negotiators recently participated in a three-day training provided by NYSUT.
Proposals are currently being drafted and reviewed by the team. While our Collective Bargaining Agreement requires that proposals be exchanged, “by February 1,” it is anticipated that a request to commence negotiations will be made to the district well in advance of that date.
Once again, the UTN Negotiations Updates, or “cherry sheets”, will be utilized as the primary means of communication between the team and membership throughout the negotiations process. The first such update will be disseminated once the UTN has officially requested the start of bargaining. Updates will be emailed to UTN Building Representatives for distribution to their respective building members. Please be sure that your Building Representative has a current, non-school email address which can be used for union communication.
