UNITED TEACHERS OF NORTHPORT
CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS
UPDATE # 11
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2010
The UTN Negotiations Team returned to the table for a productive meeting with District Representatives, including Board Trustee Jennifer Thompson, yesterday afternoon. The two-hour session included discussion of both UTN and District proposals. Both parties will continue active negotiations at the next session scheduled for Wednesday, October 6th.
In anticipation of our next session, the UTN Negotiations Team has planned two solidarity activities—“Colors for Contract” and a UTN Solidarity Rally. As full membership participation in these events is vital, please mark your calendars now.
During the last week of each month, all unit members are requested to wear a specific color on a particular day of the week as a show of unity. September 27th marks the start of our first “Colors for Contract” week.
Monday—Red
Tuesday—Green
Wednesday—Blue
Thursday—Brown
Friday—Black
Our first Solidarity Rally has been scheduled for Monday, October 4th, beginning at 6:30 p.m. outside the Laurel Avenue School. Following the rally, members are requested to remain for the Board of Education meeting which is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Additional information and specific details will be disseminated through your Building Representatives and Action Team Captains within the next week. In the event that there is a change in location or time of the Board of Education meeting, our rally will be adjusted accordingly.
