It’s time to make adequate funding of public education part of the conversation on Day 1! The first day of the new session for the NYS Assembly and Senate is January 7, 2014 – they should begin discussing the issues with funding then, not at the last minute when passing a budget. Please take the time to advocate to your elected legislators that they need to:
- Provide State Aid at the levels legally required based on the Campaign for Fiscal Equity ruling
- Eliminate the GEA that was introduced to close the state deficit now that we have a $2 billion surplus
- Modify the tax cap to address increased enrollment, safety and security upgrades, and to provide for “one person, one vote”
Good times or bad times, our children have only one time – your advocacy will make you a champion of public education!
