APPR

Just prior to the spring recess, the UTN Board of Directors met with Superintendent McDermott to engage in a dialogue about issues of mutual concern.  Among the many issues discussed at that meeting was the APPR.  Your leadership team clearly and emphatically spoke to the many concerns regarding inconsistency and the lack of clarity in both the dissemination of APPR information and the evaluation process itself.  Dr. McDermott has committed to address these concerns with building administrators and department directors and chairpersons.  It remains the UTN’s position that the District is obligated to create a synopsis of the APPR plan and provide it to teachers.  (The 60 page technical document submitted to the New York State Education Department lacks the necessary clarity that a synopsis would include.)

The APPR Committee will reconvene this spring to review the plan and negotiate any and all necessary changes for re-submission
